Jean Ann Morris Trice passed away peacefully at her home in Louisa, Virginia on Thursday, January 23, 2014. Born May 28, 1929,to the late C.K. Morris and Amanda Morris of Louisa, Virginia, she was one of six children.
Jean was educated in Louisa County Public Schools. She was a member of Zion Travelers Baptist Church in Louisa, Virginia, where before taking ill, she was on the Treasury and Usher boards.
She was known for her motherly spirit, taking on the motherly role for all the children in the neighborhood, hence the nickname “Mama Jean.” She was known to cater to the elderly, the sick and shut in or whenever anyone needed a hand.
She was preceded in death by her husband of many years, Clarence Trice Jr.; one sister, Connie Morris and one brother, Corrie Morris.
Her legacy is survived by three loving sons, Clarence W. Trice III, David Trice and Lawrence Trice, all of Louisa, Virginia; her grandchildren, Nicole Trice, Clarence Trice IV and Londra Trice; her great-grandchildren, Brandon and Kiarah Garrett, Anthony Johnson, Jeymi and Janya Barker and down to her great-great grandchild, Damien Osiris Garrett. She is also survived by three sisters, Emma Washington (James) of Richmond Virginia, Josephine Timberlake and Martha Brice of Louisa Virginia; two sisters-in-law, Irene Morris of Kent Store, Virginia and Virginia Barrett of Newark, New Jersey.
Public viewing will begin at 1 P.M. on Sunday, January 26, 2014 at the Thomasson Watson Chapel with the family receiving friends from 6 to 7 P.M. A celebration of life service will be held at 1 P.M. Monday, January 27, 2014 at Zion Travelers Baptist Church, 3662 Roundabout Road Louisa, VA 23093 with the Rev. Austin G. Bates officiating. Interment will follow in the church cemetery.
